And as you already know, not-so-smooth cabinetry means years of struggle and headache. 

It means your drawer slides will get stuck while moving in and out of the drawers. Chances are, they might get locked too. It is thus, suggested to make efforts and install the drawer slides correctly to ensure they work smoothly. Once your cabinets are built, find the drawer slides that match your requisites. It must have the appropriate weight-lifting capacity and be durable. Also, look for the following tools if you are on a DIY project, you might need them.

  • Screwdrivers

Method 1

You can decide to pre-drill the cabinet and drawer boxes before assembling them. You only need to affix the slides in the drilled holes and you are done. However, there’s a drawback to this method. Therefore, I suggest you be accurate with your measurements and calculations to avoid errors. 

 

Method 2

Investing in the heavy-duty drawer slides with disconnecting feature has its perks. It gets just damn easier to install the drawer slides if they can be disassembled for affixing. You just need to separate the parts that attach to the drawer box and the cabinet, install them separately, and reconnect them by installing the drawer box in the cabinet.

Method 3

The traditional method of installing the drawer slides to work smoothing includes marking slide placement on the drawer box and the cabinet. Once done, drill the holes, install the slides using the screws and screwdriver. Position the extension accordingly on the drawer and insert the drawer box in the cabinet.
